Piano Lessons

The piano is a beautiful instrument, no matter the genre. Whether you want to explore classical music in the vein of Martha Argerich, summon Thelonious Monk, or conquer rock, soul, funk, and pop like Stevie Wonder, a foundation of theory and technique is critical. With Instrumental Music’s private, one-on-one piano lessons in Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley, pianists learn the basics of the instrument and the music theory that unlocks songwriting and expert-level playing. More importantly, our experienced teachers impart theory in a way that is fun, rewarding, and encourages return visits. Whether you are a beginner-level player or an intermediate talent who has hit a plateau, we can help!

We Make Learning an Instrument Easier

Learning a new instrument can be challenging, and many people give up early without proper guidance. Your hands and fingers need time to adjust to the shapes they need to make to play chords and shifting from one chord to the next can be challenging for many new players. Our teachers know how to identify students' roadblocks and concerns and what approach will best help them understand their instrument. If you struggle with music theory, we will find a way to teach it. We know all the tips and tricks to learning chord shapes. Most importantly, we encourage fun! Music is a joyous, rewarding gift and we want you to enjoy your lessons thoroughly! No matter your progress, you can count on patience and knowledge from our piano teachers.

No Matter Your Goals, Our Professional Musicians Can Help

We’ve done the hard work of learning an instrument too. Our instructors were young people in their bedrooms, learning chords and the progressions that transform them into music. They have years of experience as touring and recording musicians, giving them the insight needed to help you catapult your learning to the next level. Your goals can be flexible, too. We have taught students who want to be professional musicians like us but we also instruct beginners who want to explore music as a way to reduce stress, improve their patience, and find an outlet for creativity and have fun! Music is the gift that keeps on giving. We can help you find your footing!

David Durrani

Vocals, Keyboard, Songwriting, Performance

David Durrani had a huge passion for cinema and video games throughout his childhood and eventually got a piano in the house for no specific reason. It sat there for years, until he decided to learn how to play his favorite video game themes, which started his entire journey. David grew a love for guitar in middle school, and started saving up for one, as he discovered the biggest bands in the early 2000s. This love for music grew into him becoming a full-fledged, Singer Songwriter, and Producer by his college years. What keeps David teaching music is the rediscovering of excitement through new and experienced minds. Unlocking everyone's highest potential is the most satisfying aspect of this journey. David has been teaching vocals, piano and guitar for 10 years and songwriting/recording/performance for 5 years. David is looking forward to working with you and watching you grow!
