Here's some info from Gibson: "The first impression is striking: a double-horned, 18-string mahogany monster, with a sound as big as a wall. The most successful of all such guitars, the EDS-1275 has been the most popular double-neck design for over twenty-five years thanks in large part to the awesome sonic and visual impression it made in the hands of master players like Jimmy ("Stairway To Heaven") Page and John (Mahavishnu) McLaughlin. Today's EDS-1275 features the same extended 12-string peghead and vintage "Keystone" tuning machines as the original 1962 model. The two maple necks offer extra stability and contribute to the brilliant ringing timbre of the EDS-1275, while its solid mahogany body has a rich tonality and a lively response. Add two pair of 490 R and 490 T Humbuckers, and the EDS-1275 is a rocking performer in every way."
